Swami Vivekananda’s 159th Birth Anniversary Celebration at
Vedanta Society Berkeley
A Special worship was performed by Swami Prasannatmananda, Swami-in- Charge of the Vedanta Society Berkeley, to commemorate Swami Vivekananda’s 159th birthday at 3:00 pm PST on Sunday February 7, 2021. Sumita Chakravarty sang some devotional songs during the worship. Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, devotees could not attend the worship in person. However, around 150 devotees watched the worship on Facebook Live and Live streaming on YouTube to celebrate the occasion. A few volunteers wearing masks and following social distancing helped in preparing for the worship and cooking prasad. Prasad boxes were distributed to volunteers since eating is prohibited on the premises.
Swami Vivekananda:
Always Alive
Perfect sincerity, holiness, gigantic intellect, and an all-conquering will. Let only a handful of men and women work with these, and the whole world will be revolutionized. ....... It is the patient upbuilding of character, the intense struggle to realize the truth, which alone will tell in the future of humanity. But I have intense faith in Truth. The Lord will send help and hands to work with me. Only let me be perfectly pure, perfectly sincere, and perfectly unselfish.
